It seems a bit like fall, despite recent warm weather. The nights are cool here in Santa Clarita and the days are certainly shorter. I’m not looking forward to the end of Daylight Savings Time because I am not a morning person. The house is looking festive. I’ll show you some decorations.
I turned a hallway shelf into a ghost shrine. You know my fascination with ghosts. If you’re unfamiliar, check out some past blogs:
As usual, the living room wall is festive. That skinny cat on the end is new. I found it at Beverly’s all the way in Bakersfield, which is, sadly, closing. I sure miss the one we had here. They had the best quilt fabric.
The witches are lined up and ready for the holiday again this year.
As you can tell, I tend toward the cute when it comes to Halloween. This sign is probably the spookiest thing I have.
One more witch – even my childrens’ art from elementary school can find a place in this madness.
Here’s a kitchen shelf devoted to all things candy corn, which I don’t even like to eat. It sure is festive, though.
Every surface seems to have a bit of the season. I see this desktop every time I walk out the front door.
And something new I couldn’t resist—a trick-or-treat owl.
Last but not least, here’s Fred who’s asking, “Why haven’t you signed up for the newsletter?” There’s great stuff in there every month: freebies and book news. Usually a recipe. Click on the contact tab above. It only takes a second.
Fred came from a great folk art store that used to be in La Habra. He’s actually a display for Celebrex. Yes, I will go to great lengths to find a fun store. They seem to be getting further apart all the time. It was called Fairfield Folk Art. I have dreams about stores that aren’t there anymore!
Here’s a recent find, Belladonna Tea Room in Palmdale. Great food, fun atmosphere and a fabulous gift shop with all things tea. I highly recommend it.
You have to make a reservation for tea. They have a special in November that’s well worth the price. They’re celebrating 20 years in business. I can’t wait to go back! This is our beautiful dessert tray with butterscotch scones.
What’s happening in the garden? Not much. I put out some spring flowers and added flowers to our raised veggie beds. I planted peas and lettuce too. But exciting news! For the first time ever, no critters have stolen our pomegranates!
They are giant and lovely. All I ever dreamed of having when we planted that tree so many years ago.
Have a lovely, calm end of October and don’t forget to pick up some candy for the trick-or-treaters! Take one last calming breath of fall before the mad holiday rush begins.
